Change vs. Transition
There is a difference between change and transition!
It may seem subtle at first, but understanding the distinction between these two concepts is often the key to unlocking movement forward.
Change Management is the process of evaluating current realities, assessing available options, and selecting the new thing to become.
Transition Management is the process of actually becoming the new thing.
Not understanding the difference is why so many ideas never seem to launch. Leaders spend their time and energy discovering the change and give little to no attention to the transition.
Naive leaders think describing the future is enough. It's not! They must also plan the journey to get there.
Change Management is describing the future. Transition Management is building the bridge.
