What's Emergency Transition Management all about?

Emergency Planning is a formalized process of making critical decisions before an unplanned transition presents itself. In preparing for an unplanned, emergency situation the first step is to be able to name the type of situation the ministry finds itself confronted with. There are four primary categories.

Imminent Temporary – These are situations that are quickly approaching and the associated impact will be short-lived. (Example: An unexpected Pregnancy)

Imminent Permanent – These are situations that are quickly approaching and will have a lasting impact. (Example: A life-altering medical diagnosis)

Immediate Temporary – These are situations that just occurred, but the impact will be short-lived. (Example: A car wreck)

Immediate Permanent – These are situations that just occurred that will have a lasting impact. (Example: A fatal heart attack)

The Emergency Succession Policy Template included in this resource will help you quickly write a policy that addresses all four categories listed above

"80% of the decisions that ministry leaders make in response to an unplanned leadership transition can be determined ahead of time."
